Cycle of Accountability

FCV exists at the intersection of environmental protection and political action. We work directly with the electoral process to hold lawmakers accountable for their action (or inaction) on Florida’s environment.

We know that Floridians value their environment and a healthy quality of life. But our elected officials’ priorities do not always match up with those of our people. That’s why our mission is to build political power to protect our environment, protect our democracy, and create a healthy and sustainable future for everyone. And when lawmakers do not uphold the environmental values of our public, it’s our job to hold them accountable.

That is where the cycle of accountability comes in. Through public education, engagement on the issues, advocacy, and by electing pro-conservation leaders who share our vision, we are ensuring that your values turn into our leaders’ priorities. This translates to strong laws and well-funded programs that protect our environment.

This ability to focus on all aspects of the cycle of accountability makes us unique from many other environmental groups in Florida. Our advocacy and political work enhances the efforts of our partners as we work together to fight for clean air and water, protected public lands, affordable clean energy, and increased access to our democracy.
