Florida Conservation Voters Applauds Legislature’s Latest Move to Fund Florida Forever

Statement from Aliki Moncrief, Executive Director, Florida Conservation Voters

Tallahassee, FL (March 2, 2018) – Earlier tonight, the Florida House and Senate came to an agreement on Florida Forever funding for fiscal year 2018-2019. Florida Conservation Voters applauds leaders in both chambers for their efforts to ensure that significant funding go towards this vital water and land conservation program, including Sen. Rob Bradley, Rep. Carlos Trujillo, Rep. Matt Caldwell, Sen. Lauren Book, and Senate and House leadership.

STATEMENT FROM ALIKI MONCRIEF, EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR, FLORIDA CONSERVATION VOTERS:

“Tonight, a bipartisan group of legislators worked together to breathe life back into the Florida Forever land conservation program. Florida Conservation Voters commends the Legislature’s top budget chairs — Senator Rob Bradley and Representative Carlos Trujillo — for their leadership on conservation funding. And, with six full days left in the legislative session, there is still time to lock-in significant annual funding for Florida Forever for the foreseeable future. Both Rep. Matt Caldwell and Sen. Rob Bradley have long-term funding bills still in play (HB 7063 and SB 370). FCV remains hopeful these two good ideas can come together to put the ‘forever’ back into Florida Forever, so that our most treasured natural areas will be protected for future generations.”
