Florida Conservation Voters Action Fund Endorses Margaret Good for Florida House
Good is the only candidate in this race to face Sarasota’s sea-level rise problem head-on.
Tallahassee, FL (February 2, 2018)—Today Florida Conservation Voters Action Fund announced their endorsement of Sarasota’s Margaret Good (D) for State House District 72.
Good is the committed conservation leader Sarasota needs and will defend our drinking water and unique natural areas by implementing common-sense safeguards. Good has criticized the Legislature for their inaction on passing the bipartisan fracking ban and for failing to implement the 2014 Water & Land Conservation Amendment properly.
“Margaret Good will be an outstanding advocate for Sarasota’s residents and the millions of visitors who enjoy our waterways, beaches, and conservation lands,” said Aliki Moncrief, Executive Director of FCV. “Margaret’s impressive legal experience and public policy background speak for itself; there is no doubt she will be a vocal advocate for our environment in Tallahassee. Her leadership will be needed as we work to ban fracking, defend our parks and natural areas, and enact smart policies to handle the damaging effects of climate change and sea-level rise on our state.”
FCV’s mission is to elect leaders who represent the conservation values of everyday Floridians. Millions of people have demanded greater protections for irreplaceable treasures like our springs, more funding for parks, and clean energy policies that benefit Florida families, and not special interests.
“I am honored to have the support of Florida Conservation Voters,” said Good. “Like many Floridians, I grew up swimming in our lakes and enjoying our beautiful beaches. Preserving the places that make our state so special is the right thing to do for our quality of life and economy. I am committed to banning dangerous practices such as fracking that put our tourism economy at risk. Our community deserves a Representative who will stand up to the special interests that pull the strings in Tallahassee.”
Good is running against Republican James Buchanan and Libertarian Alison Foxall for House District 72, which includes coastal and suburban Sarasota County.
Florida Conservation Voters Action Fund is committed to electing pro-conservation candidates to public office.
