Sen. Dana Young and Rep. Kathleen Peters Sponsor 2018 Fracking Ban

published on: October 16, 2017

Last Tuesday, we presented Senator Young with a poster with the names of more than two thousand Floridians saying thank you for her leadership on this issue.

I am delighted to inform you that Senator Dana Young has re-filed her fracking ban bill from last year. She is joined by Rep. Kathleen Peters, who has filed identical legislation in the Florida House.

Seeing the fracking ban pass both the House and Senate (and signed by the Governor) is one of Florida Conservation Voters’ priorities this year. But we cannot do it alone.

Committee weeks leading up to the 2018 Florida Legislative Session have just begun, and the oil and gas industry is already ramping up for another well-funded lobbying effort to stymie our progress over the past year. As usual, they are using scare tactics and threats of litigation to frighten legislators away from supporting the ban.

But we have the people on our side. With your voice and your energy, we will reach every key legislator with a united message: Florida’s time to pass a fracking ban is now.

So please, stay tuned to our emails and to our Facebook Page for the latest news and action alerts.

Thank you for all that you do.
