FCV’s Aliki Moncrief Lauds Senator Dana Young and Representative Kathleen Peters for Fracking Ban Bills

Moncrief: “This is what environmental leadership looks like”

Tallahassee, FL (October 10, 2017) – Today Aliki Moncrief, Executive Director, Florida Conservation Voters, commended Senator Dana Young (R-Tampa) and Representative Kathleen Peters (R-St. Petersburg) for their 2018 fracking ban legislation. Senator Young and Representative Peters will announce their bills at a press conference at 1:30 pm on Tuesday, October 10 in front of the Senate Chamber doors on the fourth floor of the Florida Capitol.

Statement from Aliki Moncrief, Executive Director, Florida Conservation Voters:

“Florida Conservation Voters applauds Senator Dana Young and Representative Kathleen Peters for sponsoring a ban on the dangerous process of fracking in Florida. Fracking poses too big of a risk for the millions of Florida families and visitors who trust that our groundwater is safe and clean for drinking. Protecting Floridians from hazardous activities like fracking is the right thing to do, and no one should be intimidated by unsubstantiated claims that this good bill interferes with existing property rights. It simply doesn’t.  We look forward to working with Sen. Young and Rep. Peters throughout the 2018 Legislative Session to see a fracking ban passed in Florida once and for all. This is what environmental leadership looks like.”
